In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as many as 289 cases were registered under draconian law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in 2021.
The Crime Gazette-2021 reveals that cases under the UAPA were registered in 22 out of 23 police districts in the territory. Of these cases, 241 cases were registered in Kashmir Valley and 48 in Jammu.
The report states that in 2020, 286 cases were registered under the UAPA in IIOJK. The Indian authorities are using this black law to detain the people affiliated with the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement.
The use of UAPA against the pro-freedom people has increased since the abrogation of special status of IIOJK by Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government on August 05, 2019.—KMS
