The samples of four more coronavirus suspect cases have tested negative at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, health officials said Sunday. Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan told Rising Kashmir that four new cases with coronavirus-like symptoms were admitted to SKIMS on Friday and their sample have tested negative.
“Three suspected cases were from Tral while another one hailed from Budgam. We took their samples and the sample results of all the four tested negative,” he said. At SKIMS, a total 14 persons are under medical observation — 13 in hospital quarantine while one case is in isolation ward.
As per the media bulletin of J&K government, till Saturday a total of 1878 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance including 1567 in home quarantine, 24 in hospital quarantine and 123 in home surveillance.
“Till date a total of 154 have completed 128 days surveillance period. 89 samples have been sent for testing, of which 78 are negative while report of nine is awaited,” it said. Till date, two cases both in Jammu have been tested positive. The government today issued an advisory to hoteliers asking them to keep a record of visitors and promote respiratory hygiene in hotels.
“Make sure that the premises of hotels are clean and hygienic while the surface with disinfection regularly. Promote regular and thorough hand washing by employee, employers and customers,” read the advisory. It has advised hoteliers to put sanitizing hand rub dispensers in prominent places around the workplaces and make sure these dispensers are regularly refilled.—RK
