According to the State Ministry for Disaster Management, these deaths happened in Badghis, Nimroz, Faryab, and Ghazni provinces. More than 3,000 cattle also died due to exposure to the cold weather.
“People are having a lot of problems due to freezing weather in the country,” said Mullah Jan Sayeq, director of Risk Reduction of the State Ministry for Disaster Management.
The Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation’s Department of Meteorology said that this year’s temperature is 12 degrees lower than the last year.
The Salang Pass in Parwan province as well as Ghor, and Paktia are among the coldest areas in the country, said the authority.
“The severe cold wave over the past week has affected many areas, particularly the western, northwestern, northern, and northeastern regions, as well as the country’s central regions.
