On the directives of Director General of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Abdul Rashid Solangi, the Demolition Squad carried out extensive operations across various areas of the city to tackle illegal constructions. According to the SBCA spokesperson, a total of 1,381 illegal constructions were demolished and sealed between March and November. The Demolition Team followed court orders to carry out demolitions in several key locations: Lyari: In compliance with court orders, part of the fifth-floor RCC slab at Plot No. K-50-S-44, Fakir Mohammad Dora Khan Road, was demolished. Meanwhile, in Wadhumal Quarters, illegal constructions from the fifth to the seventh floor were targeted, but due to resistance from the crowd, the operation was postponed. Bahar Colony.:
The second-floor RCC slab and columns were demolished at Plot No. A/862, and the premises were sealed. Shah Waliullah Road: The sixth-floor RCC slab and partition walls at Plot No. 1979, Khadda Machhi Market, were demolished, and the premises were sealed. Garden West.
The ninth-floor RCC slab was demolished, while partition walls on the fourth floor of a building in Saddar were also brought down. Operations in Central and East Districts Liaquatabad.
The first-floor shuttering and walls were demolished at Plot No. 187, Qasimabad, and illegal constructions were removed from several other plots. Nazimabad: In multiple locations, including Plot No. 8/12, sub-block A-5, Popoosh Nagar, and Plot No. 6/1, sub-block 3-A, Nazimabad, the third and fifth floors’ RCC slabs and walls were demolished, while other illegal constructions were sealed. Scheme 36, East Karachi: The mezzanine floor at Plot No. SB-16, Block 11, and the ground-floor ceiling at Plot No. A-7, Block 11, were demolished and sealed. Throughout the demolition operations, SBCA officials were accompanied by local police to maintain law and order.
The spokesperson emphasized that these actions were carried out under court orders and in compliance with legal requirements. SBCA urged citizens to refrain from constructing illegal buildings and follow legal procedures for any construction work to avoid future complications and legal actions.
