Adult content become part of online adult entertainment, but its adaptability on social sites is new normal, with former Twitter now becoming the latest platform to welcome explicit content.
X made headline as platform goes XXX, leading different reactions online. In a recent development, Elon Musk’s platform X announced that it now allows pornographic content but will block adult and violent posts from being visible to users under 18 or those who do not opt-in to see it.
The microblogging platform further share new policies to regulate what type of content can be seen on the platform, aligning with growing regulator pressure to protect children from inappropriate online content.
Under the new changes, social media users posting adult content on X, including nudity and sexual acts, need to adjust their media settings to have their content behind a warning before it can be viewed.
X will take action to adjust account settings if users fail to label pornographic posts correctly. Similar rules have been implemented for violent content, including speech or media that promotes violence or harm.
The new policy of social giant brings it in line with Apple’s guidelines, which allow apps with hidden user-generated adult content to be displayed. X is currently involved in a legal battle with the Australian eSafety commissioner over the removal of tweets showing a stabbing attack, with the case set to be heard in federal court.
Additionally, Twitter has introduced new features, such as NSFW communities, to cater to users interested in adult content.
