RAWALPINDI – A woman beggar was allegedly raped by a man in Morgah area in the metropolis on Saturday.
A case was registered in the Saddar Beroni area as a resident of Rawalpindi was sexually assaulted by a man who was accompanied by two accomplices including a woman.
The victim told police that she used to work as a housemaid and also begged to make ends meet.
As per FIR, the victim and her sister were roaming on the road near the Shahpur bus stop on Saturday when a car pulled up next to them. The driver gave the victim Rs500 and offered to take her to a godown on Adiala Road where he had groceries for poor families.
The victim trusted his offer, and she got into the car along with her sister. After driving for some time, the man diverted the vehicle to a deserted area. He then asked the woman accompanying him to take the victim’s sister out of the car. The man raped the beggar woman in the car.

After resorting to sexual assault, the man pushed the woman out of the car and fled with the woman who was with him. Police then lodged a case on the victim’s complaint and are looking to trace the suspects.
Sexual violence against women in Pakistan is a serious and pervasive issue.
Last week, a Dolphin Squad member allegedly raped his cousin. The woman reported that culprit raped her multiple times and also blackmailed her, extorting Rs2lac from her. She claimed that he had assaulted her before and after her marriage, sometimes at gunpoint.
