Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) affiliated candidates bagged most seats in elections 2024, and now these independent members are being lured by other political bigwigs. The first to jump ship is Waseem Qadir who joined PML-N after winning Lahore’s NA-121.

In a social media post, Waseem Qadir said he came back to where he belonged. In a video shared online, the Lahore based politician was spotted standing alongside PML-N Maryam Nawaz and Saif Khokhar.

As all eyes are on election results, people started searching about Waseem Qadir.

Waseem Qadir is the son of Chaudhry Ghulam Qadir who hailed from the provincial capital Lahore. A businessman turned lawmaker first made it to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in the year 2008.

He remained settled abroad for years and joined his homeland to enter politics. He joined Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf in December 2018 after the party rose to power.

Before joining Imran Khan, Waseem remained part of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz. He remained deputy mayor of Ravi Town. Sharifs awarded him a ticket from PP-144 and won the seat with a clear margin and served as a lawmaker for years.

In 2013 polls, Waseem Qadir was denied the ticket and developed some differences with party leadership. He had a heated argument with PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz over tickets issuance.
