Pakistan needs a whistleblower culture to checkthe growing corruption and attacks of the economic hitmen of capitalistssitting in corridors of power in shape of so-called politicians, saidPasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor here Sunday.He said in the West, especially Europe, the governments encouragewhistleblowers in every walk of life so that the insiders detect andwarn about any corruption and wrongdoing before it causes too much harm.He said the whistleblowers are fully protected under the law and theyare even given a share from the money recovered from the corrupt mafias.He said in Pakistan economic hitmen of the capitalist have penetratedthe government system and devoured the national economy.
These economic hitmen working in guise of politicians. These so-calledpoliticians sadly have looted the national economy in the periods of allthree main political parties: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), PakistanMuslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The shameful scandal of IPPs, their whooping profit margin andpermission to them to send their fat profits outside the country in USdollars have shaken the whole nation.He said no doubt the economic hitmen operating under the political coverof the PPP, PML-N and PTI are responsible for the IPPs scam and theyshould be fully unmasked and dealt as per law. He said it is hearteningto know that some lawyers and activists are going to file aconstitutional petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against theIPPs mega scandal.He said besides the IPPs scandal with its shameful capacity paymentlooting, there are petrol, sugar, fertilizer, wheat flour, privatebanking, Forex and other mafias that have pushed the country to theverge of bankruptcy.
A severe action should be taken against them to save the country from atotal economic collapse. He said we take loans also on the behest ofthese economic hitmen and today about 80 percent of our national budgetis spent to pay these loans and their interest. He said sadly Pakistanhas become a textbook example of the debt trap.He urged all citizens to become whistle blowers in all sectors of lifeand complain timely when they see corruption particularly in thesectors, departments and organisations where they work.
He said it isour national duty to check corruption and bribery at every level andevery walk of life.He said the national security organs and apex judiciary have a greaternational role to take notice of the growing activities of the economichitmen working in Pakistan to save the nation and country from a loomingdefault.He warned that this is the last chance to save the country and immediateand targeted actions are necessary before it is too late.
