Which telecom company has most users in Pakistan? A look into Subscriber Base

Cellular mobile subscribers constitute a major part of the overall telecom subscriber base, and in Pakistan- a country of 240 million – the telecom industry saw 17 percent growth in 2022-23.

Despite the economic meltdown and big increase in operational costs, Pakistan’s telecom sector minted Rs850 billion in revenues showing resilience. PTA report said the telecom industry holds considerable investment potential over the last years.

Mobile broadband also improved over the last years and currently 90pc of mobile broadband subscribers in the fifth most populous country are using 4G.

Top Telecom Operators in Pakistan

Four telecom operators currently hold the most users. Jazz remains at the top followed by Telenor, Zong, and Ufone; the report has not mentioned companies’ merger in its latest report.

In the Cellular Subscribers category, Jazz holds 71.3 million, followed by Telenor with 46.9 million, Zong stands third with 46.5 million subscribers. Ufone amassed less than 25 million subscribers.

It also shared details about 4G user base and Jazz again holds top position with 43.87million users. Zong holds second spot with 34.20 million users, Telenor at 23.30 million and Ufone at 14.48 million users.

PTA also shared details about revenue generation. Jazz leads with highest revenue market share of 46pc as well as the highest average revenue per user (ARPU) of Rs353.8.

Jazz leads with a significant 46.3% market share, followed by Zong, Telenor, and Ufone.
