The power generation capacity from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has reduced by nearly 85 percent due to the water shortage. From across the territory, the total power generation capacity is 1200 Megawatts.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Principal Secretary of Power Development Department (PDD) H Rajesh Prasad said there is a huge shortfall of power generation from the pool of the territory.
“From the J&K pool, we have a power generation capacity of 1200 MWs. However, due to the shortage of water, we are generating only 150 MWs during the ongoing winters,” he added.
The Principal Secretary further said Jammu and Kashmir is more dependent on India’s pool to fulfill the power gaps at larger extent.—KMS
