A group of the spouses of various heads of missions and international agencies on Tuesday visited the Suffa Sweet Home in Bhara Kahu on Simly Road and distributed gifts among the children there.
The visit was part of their continuous efforts and gesture of goodwill for the poor and the needy children of various orphanages in the twin cities.
This was the second such visit by the Group of the Wives of the Heads of Missions during the current month as earlier on Dec 7, too they visited a Sweet Home being run and administered by the Pakistan Sweet Home.
In Tuesday’s visit, however, the wives of the heads of missions of Turkey, Italy, Tajikistan, Nepal, Belarus, Indonesia, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Ukraine, Cuba, World Bank, Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Kenya and Yemen took a round of the facility for the children in Bhara Kahu and held dialogue with the students and took keen interest in their studies and extracurricular activities.
Donations prepared by the spouses of the Heads of Missions included hats, socks, gloves and headscarves in view of the cold and harsh weather. They were handed over to 100 children of the Suffa Sweet Home.
These donations were raised from the personal funds of the group of the Heads of Missions.
The wives of the heads of the missions talked to children and asked how they felt at resumption of education after prolonged vacation due to lockdown. The children told them they were attending classes regularly and enjoyed good and healthy facilities of food, sports and learning. They thanked the visiting ladies for the gifts and the trouble they took in coming to the sweet home.
Moreover, uniforms, books, stationary, healthcare and hair cutting facilities were also available to these children free of charge.
The visiting ladies appreciated the arrangements and facilities being provided to these children and also vowed to carry forward the social services in the country along with other charity organizations.They also visited all the class rooms and were briefed about the books and different courses being taught to the children.
The spouses of the Heads of Diplomatic Missions also talked to administrators of the Sweet Home and enquired about the procedure of admitting the orphans there.
