Mayor Karachi and Chairman Governing Body Karachi Medical and Dental College Barrister MurtazaWahab on Friday formed a three-member committee to suggest ways for enhancing the income of Karachi Medical and Dental College from other sources. After reviewing all aspects, the committee will submit its suggestions to the Mayor Karachi so that further steps can be taken in this regard. This was decided in the meeting of the governing body of KMDC held under the chairmanship of the Mayor Karachi at KMC head office.PPP leader ShehlaRaza, former member of National Assembly KishwerZohra, municipal commissioner KMC Syed AfzalZaidi, financial adviser GhulamMurtaza Bhutto and others were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, various financial and administrative matters of Karachi Medical and Dental College were discussed. It was told that the college is given a monthly grant of Rs42 million by KMC while the monthly expenses are more than this so the governing body Members made suggestions for fundraising.
This included obtaining a grant from the Higher Education Commission through the affiliation of KMDC to the University of Karachi, besides making proposals to increase the college’s income from other sources.Wahab said three-member committee has been set up to suggest measures to improve the financial and administrative affairs of the Karachi Medical and Dental College.He said that there should not be any financial burden on the students already enrolled in the college, but for new admissions, fee increase may be considered.
He said that Karachi Medical and Dental College is an important medical institution of the city and all possible steps will be taken to make it a well standard and modern educational institution.
