Water crises
Water scarcity has become a critical challenge for Pakistan’s agricultural sector, posing significant risks to its long term sustainability. Despite vast tracts of arable land the country has been unable to expand its cultivated area. The key bottleneck is water, a resource in increasingly short supply. This water crisis, driven by a combination of factors, threatens to undermine the country’s food security and agricultural economy. Pakistan’s inadequate water storage capacity is one of the central issues.
Despite an increase in water flow from melting glaciers, the country’s infrastructure is unable to capture and store sufficient volumes for agricultural needs. Over the years, This lack of storage capacity limits Pakistan’s ability to mitigate the effects of both water shortages and flooding, particularly as climate change accelerates glacier melts. Groundwater extraction is also a major concern.
Pakistan is the third-largest consumer of groundwater in the world, following India and the United States, even though it represents just 3% of the global population. Groundwater extraction exceeds the natural replenishment rate, particularly in rural areas where 73% of the land is heavily reliant on underground aquifers.
Unchecked withdrawals have led to the depletion of these critical water reserves, pushing the country toward an unsustainable future. Outdated irrigation techniques, such as flood irrigation, exacerbate these problems. Water losses through inefficient practices reduce the productivity of the country’s agricultural sector. Rising temperatures, another consequence of climate change are also playing a role.
Pakistan has warm climate and it grows at a faster pace than the global average, with transpiration rates increasing, leading to further water loss from both soil and plants. The water crisis is constraining Pakistan’s agricultural potential. Without urgent reform in water management and infrastructure, the country risks falling deeper into an agricultural and environmental crisis. The people should also realise their responsibility in using water as well. Car centres should also be controlled through water meters.

Judicial inefficiency
I am writing to address a critical issue plaguing our nation: the inefficiency of the judicial system in Pakistan. The alarming delays in legal proceedings and the backlog of cases not only undermine the rule of law but also deny justice to countless citizens.
This inefficiency breeds frustration and disillusionment, making it difficult for individuals to seek redress for grievances. It is essential for our leaders to prioritize judicial reforms, streamline processes and enhance resources to ensure timely justice. A functional judicial system is vital for upholding rights and maintaining public confidence. I urge your publication to continue highlighting this urgent issue and advocate for necessary changes.

Reducing road accidents
I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing concern that requires immediate action. Recently, I witnessed a devastating road accident that highlighted the alarming issue of overspeeding during festive seasons. As a concerned citizen, I believe it is crucial to address this issue to prevent further tragedies.
The roads are extremely congested during festivals, making overspeeding a recipe for disaster. I urge the authorities concerned to take stringent measures to reduce the number of road accidents caused by reckless driving. To mitigate this problem, increased patrols and surveillance, strategic placement of speed cameras, strict enforcement of speed limits, public awareness campaigns on road safety and collaborative efforts with local authorities to optimize traffic management are essential. I request those who matter to take prompt action to enhance traffic enforcement during festive seasons, implement effective speed management systems, conduct regular road safety audits and engage with local communities to promote road safety awareness.
Your leadership and commitment to addressing this issue will significantly contribute to reducing road accidents and ensuring public safety.
The consequences of inaction will be severe, resulting in loss of lives, injuries and emotional trauma to families. I implore you to treat this matter with the urgency it deserves and take concrete steps to prevent future accidents. Thank you for your dedication to serving our community. I look forward to seeing tangible results from your efforts.

Political instability
In light of the recent developments in our political landscape, I feel compelled to address the troubling issue of political instability in Pakistan. The constant shifts in leadership and rising tensions have not only created uncertainty but have also eroded public trust in our institutions.
This instability hampers effective governance and prevents meaningful progress on critical issues such as the economy, security and social justice. As citizens, we deserve a political climate that fosters stability and allows for constructive dialogue among all stakeholders. I urge our leaders to prioritize the nation’s welfare over personal and party interests. It is vital for them to engage in transparent discussions that include diverse perspectives.
