Pakistan Budget 2024-25 Proposes Tax Hike on Phones
The federal government has proposed imposition of standard 18 percent sales tax on all mobile phones valued below $500 (Rs139,008 as of June 19, 2024), a move if approved would jack up the prices of mobile phones of various companies, including Vivo.
The proposal was laid forth in the budget for next fiscal year 2024-25, which was presented on June 12 by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
If the proposals are accepted, there will be new tax rate for mid-range mobile phones in Pakistan, with effect from July 1, 2024.
According to finance bill 2024, the government has proposed standard 18% sales tax on all phones priced below $500.
Expected New Prices of Vivo Smartphones in Pakistan from July 1
The prices of Vivo mobile phones are expected to go up from July 1, 2024 if the proposal regarding imposition of standard 18% tax on phones valued below $500 is approved. Prices of these Vivo phones are expected to increase from next month:
