Jammu and Kashmir International Forum for Justice Human Rights Chairman, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, submitted a detailed petition before India’s National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi regarding the booking of 10 Kashmiri youth under draconian law, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), for playing a cricket match in Shopian district.
10 youth including nine local cricketers and brother of a martyred youth, Syed Ruban, who organised the cricket match in the district on Thursday were booked under the black law.
Officials said the tournament was organised by Syed Tajamul Imran in the memory of his brother Syed Ruban, who was martyred by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in January last year.—KMS
