UNICEF supported classes for over 140K children

The UN Children Fund (UNI-CEF) supported over 5,000 educational communities to provide learning opportunities for at least 142,700 children within the past three months, the organization said on Fri-day.

“In the past 3 months, UNI-CEF supported 5,350 community-based education classes ensuring access to learning for more than 142,700 children across Afghanistan,” the UNICEF Af-ghanistan said on Twit-ter. “Yet more needs to be done, over 4 million children are still out of school, more than half are girls.”

The Turkish Maarif Founda-tion said that it has held en-trance exams for students who seek to attend the Af-ghan-Turk Schools across the country.

According to the foundation, of 3,500 students, 1,000 of them would be recruited.
“Over 1,000 native Turkish employees in the administra-tive and educational depart-ment are present in Afghani-stan currently. We are com-mitted to providing service in Afghanistan,” said Saleh Mohammad Saghir, head of the foundation in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Education praised the facilitation of edu-cation programs for the chil-dren.
“We wish more success to our friend countries, particularly Turkey,” said, Ihsanullah Khi-tab, head of the Kabul educa-tion department.

Teachers and heads of the entrance exams for the Af-ghan-Turk schools said that the number of students par-ticipating has dropped com-pared to previous years.

“The number of participants was high in the previous years,” said Omid Sapai, a teacher. “The recent changes had its affect on the student’s enroll-ment,” said Abdul Baqi Oriak-hail, a teacher.
