THE entire Pakistani nation fully expressed solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Yaum-e-Istehsal observed on Wednesday to denounce India’s illegal actions and military siege of the occupied territory over the last one year. The people expressed their sentiments and anger against the Indian atrocities and support for Kashmiri people at a series of events and rallies organized across the country headed by top level government functionaries.
An all party conference chaired by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday and Senate session on Wednesday once again transmitted the message that the political parties regardless of their differences are united and have unanimous view on the lingering dispute. Indeed this unity is a source of strength for Pakistan as well as the Kashmiri people. Unveiling a new political map of Pakistan spurning Delhi’s territorial claims on occupied Jammu and Kashmir was a symbolic but yet another important step in the right direction to forcefully project the lingering dispute at the international level. This indeed is the true map of Pakistan and the day is not far when Kashmir will also become part of Pakistan. There is an unbreakable relationship between Pakistani and the Kashmiri people which is truly described as one soul in two hearts. This is the reason that Pakistan has always politically and diplomatically supported the right of self-determination of people of Jammu and Kashmir whilst the people of the occupied territory have always shown their special affection and love for Pakistani people. Despite facing atrocities at the hands of occupation forces, they are seen raising Pakistan slogans and bury their martyrs in Pakistani flag. This is also something that has disturbed Modi Junta and it is using different tactics to change the demography of the occupied territory on the pattern of Israel which resorts to building illegal settlements in the West Bank and Gaza. However, we have no doubt in saying that such tactics never succeed but only contribute to increasing the level of tension. It is, therefore, better for India to see writing on the wall and accept the right of self-determination of Kashmiri people as per the UN Security Council Resolutions. It really goes to credit to PTI government for forcefully raising the Kashmir dispute at different forums and now it has formally requested the UN Security Council to hold a meeting to consider the consequences of India’s military siege in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the serious threat its aggressive posture pose to the peace and security in South Asia. We expect that with the cooperation of friendly countries, our Foreign Office will continue to project the plight of innocent and armless Kashmiri people at different forums in order to compel the Indian government to move towards resolution of the dispute which is imperative for overall regional peace and stability.
