Pakistan Cricket Team’s bowling coach Umar Gul has praised his young seam attack despite his side losing to Afghanistan for the first time ever in the opening T20 match of the series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

“There was a positive for us today”.

“Our bowlers did really well while defending a low total. I am satisfied with our bowlers’ performance. They bowled on good line and lengths as per the plan given to them,” Gul opined after the match.

Umar Gul’s words hold merit as the bowlers cannot be faulted for Pakistan’s loss.

They were given little room to work with as the Green Shirts’ batting collapsed to put just 92 runs on the board.

Despite the meagre total, the nascent bowling lineup consisting of debutants Zaman Khan and Ihsanullah managed to stretch the game to the 18th over before coming short.

“It was first match for youngsters. They definitely learnt from it. Conditions here were different from Pakistan where these players performed in PSL 8. I hope they will learn from their mistakes and come back strong in next games,” Gul continued.

Umar Gul has first-hand experience with the talent Afghanistan possesses after serving as their bowling coach earlier. But the excuse of a young side will only get you so far and Shadab Khan’s side needs to win the remaining two games.
