LAHORE – People across Pakistan will get two consecutive public holidays around mid of July 2024 on account of Ashura, which is observed on Muharram 9 and 10.
The federal government has already added these two holidays in it holiday calendar for the year of 2024.
The dates of the holidays in Georgian calendar will be finalised after the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s decision regarding Muharram Moon sighting.
When Will be Ashura 2024 Holidays in Pakistan?
If the moon is sighted on July 6, the first of Muharram in Pakistan will be observed on July 7 and Aushra will fall on July 15 and 16. In this scenario, there will be public holidays on July 15 and 16 (Monday and Tuesday).
It the new Islamic year starts on July 8, the Ashura will be observed on July 16 and 17. In this case, the public holidays will be observed on July 16 and 17 (Tuesday and Wednesday).
