ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced strict measures targeting individuals deported from foreign countries.
The government has taken a decisive move to curb illegal migration and the growing international embarrassment caused by deportations.
Chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, a high-level meeting decidedto register FIRs against all deportees and cancel their passports.
These individuals will also be added to the passport control list for five years, restricting future travel.
Minister Naqvi emphasized that deported individuals damage Pakistan’s image abroad and will no longer be shown any leniency. A committee led by the Interior Secretary will now review and tighten passport regulations.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary, DG FIA, and DG Passport were also present in the meeting.
Saudi Arabia has deported more than 5,000 Pakistani beggars in the last 16 months.
It was revealed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi earlier this month in a written reply to a question asked by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Sehar Kamran in National Assembly.
The official data also revealed a total of 5,402 Pakistanis have been deported from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since January 2024.
As many as 4,850 Pakistani nationals faced deportation from these countries in the year 2024.
