Taking notice of the controversy, Punjab Information and Culture Minister Uzma Bukhari directed the relevant authorities to take action against the theatre. Officials subsequently sealed the venue and initiated legal and administrative proceedings against its management. Authorities said further action is underway, although details of the proceedings have not been disclosed.

The controversy also drew a strong reaction from actress Mishi Khan, who addressed the issue in a video message. She said she had come across an Instagram clip featuring a 10-year-old child commenting positively on the manner of a stage dancer’s performance.

Several activists, including actress Mishi Khan questioned how child of that age could have been allowed to attend or watch such a programme. She also called for clear and strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) aimed at protecting children and regulating their access to potentially unsuitable entertainment venues.

Referring to the broader issue of child protection in Pakistan, the actress said incidents of child abuse continue to be reported and argued that greater attention is needed not only to children’s upbringing but also to the environments in which they are exposed to content and entertainment.

Some social media users called for stricter enforcement of rules governing performances and audiences. The incident comes amid the Punjab government’s stated emphasis on enforcing a code of conduct in theatres and ensuring that venues maintain an environment considered appropriate for families.
