IN the latest in a new string of terrorist attacks across the country, at least eight students were martyred and nearly one hundred others suffered injuries when a powerful bomb ripped through a seminary in Peshawar on Tuesday morning, bringing back the horrific memories of the 2014 massacre of 149 children and teachers at the Army Public School in the city.
There has been a resurgence of terrorist activities this month as just a couple of days ago a bomb blast at a market in Quetta claimed the life of three people. A few weeks back, twenty security personnel were martyred in two separate attacks on the Makran Coastal Highway near Ormara and in North Waziristan. Pakistan has already rendered immense sacrifices in the war on terror over the last two decades and it was because of our relentless campaign against the menace that peace was largely restored in the country. We cannot afford the reversal of these successes. The designs of our arch enemy are very clear as it does not want peace and stability in Pakistan and its aim is to continue to malign the country as the hub of terrorism. The very statements of Indian military officials as well as several reports that have emerged recently clearly speak as to how New Delhi is hand in glove with terrorists to stoke instability in Pakistan including through the sectarian strife. Therefore, we need to remain on alert and forcefully expose the Indian evil face before the world. Recent acts of terrorism must be thoroughly investigated and findings should be shared with the international community which needs to come forward to rein in New Delhi before it is too late. To foil the sordid designs of the enemy, we need to stay firmly united and should not allow any incident to create friction in us. Secondly, intelligence agencies must also fulfil their responsibilities. They should not only issue terror alerts but also ensure these threats are timely pre-empted.
