West Indies thrashed Uganda by 134 runs in a Group C match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Providence.
Chasing a 174-run target for an improbable victory, Uganda crashed at 39, the lowest team score in the T20 World Cup history. Juma Miyagi was the top scorer with 13 runs. No other batter could enter the double figures as player of the match Akeal Hosein sent five hapless Uganda batsmen back to the pavilion after conceding just 11 runs. Alzarri Joseph bagged two wickets while Romario Shepherd, Andre Russel and Gudakesh Moti took one wicket each.
Earlier, West Indies scored 173/5 in the allocated 20 overs. Johnson Charles was the highest scorer with 44 runs followed by Andre Russell who made 30. Skipper Rovman Powell scored 23, Sherfane Rutherford and Nicholas Pooran 22 each and Brandon King 13 runs. Brian Masaba bagged two wickets and Alpesh Ramjani, Cosmas Kyewuta and Dinesh Nakrani had one wicket each.
