Sugar gets dearer by Rs3

After the wheat crisis, it’s sugar prices that have hiked Rs3 ¬in Karachi now.100kg of sugar
has gotten Rs300 more expensive. The sugar mill owners have increased the price of 100kg of sugar
from Rs7,000 to Rs7,300. Prices have increased by Rs5 since Friday . Sugar mill owners said that the
price hike is due to the increase in expenses.======
Ban on recruting college teachers to be lifted soon
Staff ReporterThe Sindh government has decided to lift the 10-year ban on the recruitment of teachers
in colleges across the province.The Sindh Education Department has decided to recruit 1500 lecturers of
various subjects in colleges to end the shortage of teachers. The College Education Department has
decided to lift the ban on the appointments with the recruitment of 1500 lecturers of grade 17.
According to statistics, over 98 (male/female) lecturers are required in the subject of Chemistry; 67 male
and 54 female lecturers for Mathematics; 154 for Physics; 172 for English; 144 for Urdu and 86 for
Pakistan Studies. It may be noted here that there is a shortage of over 2500 subject teachers in the
colleges across the province.The Sindh government in October last had slapped complete ban on
transfer and postings of teachers across the province. According to a notification issued by the secretary
education, the ban was imposed on transfers and posting of all teaching staff with immediate effect.
