Sindh Minister for Narcotics Control, Sharjeel Inam Memon, announced plans to conduct random drug tests on students in various Karachi schools to combat drug peddling. The identities of tested students will remain confidential. If a student tests positive, their parents will be notified, and the student will be asked about the source of the drugs. However, Memon clarified that no legal action will be taken against students with positive test results.

Last month, the Sindh government revealed preparations for an extensive crackdown on drug trafficking across the province. Memon chaired a high-level meeting in Karachi to lead this initiative, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the drug epidemic. Plans include forming teams of efficient officers dedicated to executing the crackdown effectively. Memon highlighted the importance of liberating the younger generation from the influence of drug dealers. Additionally, he announced that officers demonstrating exceptional performance in the crackdown would be rewarded as recognition of their dedication to the cause.
