The city administration’s action against those who did not comply with the government’s SOPs issued for business continued on Thursday. Under the direction of Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalawani, the concerned magistrates took action against various shopping centers and shops at Tariq Road, a busy commercial center of the city and sealed them. The operation was supervised by Deputy Commissioner Sharqi Ahmed Ali Siddiqui. The shops and centers that were sealed had an unsafe gathering of shoppers and SOPs were being violated at the sites According to the handout issued, the sealed centers and shops which have been sealed include Ideas (Gul Ahmed), Salman Fashion Shop, Qureshi Garments, Kids & Kids, Sarkab Clothes, Azmi Shopping Center, Rafi Shopping Center, PMC Shopping Center, Razzaq Kundan Motiwala Arcade, Shadman Center, Al Margin Shoes. Shalawani has said that business permission to shopkeepers is conditional to implementation of SOPs. The shopkeepers have been told that they are responsible for following the SOPs and enforcing the buyers but they are committing negligence and they should take effective precautionary measures in this regard. Their shops will be closed, he said, adding that they will continue the crackdown on shopkeepers violating SOPs as long as they do not follow the rules and regulations.
