National Conference (NC) Vice President, Omar Abdullah, has said that the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is far from normal.

According to Kashmir Media Service, talking to reporters on the sidelines of the function at the party office in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah said that the Narendra Modi-led Indian government was misleading the people about the situation in the territory.

“We are pained to see the targeting attacks in Kashmir. Whenever statements about the improvement in the situation are being issued, we are witnessing the targeted attacks. Both civilians as well as police personnel are becoming the victims. The government should speak the truth about the situation in Kashmir,” he said.

“Sometimes police are targeted, sometimes civilians. The situation is not normal, while the government trying to mislead the people,” he said.

Meanwhile, the President of Indian National Congress IIOJK chapter, Vikar Rasool Wani, in a statement citing recent incidents of the killing of a police head constable and a non-local labourer besides injuring of a police officer termed the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir as serious.

He asked the Modi regime and its puppet administration to ensure safety of innocents, instead of tall claims of total normalcy in the territory.—KMS
