Sindh assembly session summoned for newly elected MPAs’ oath-taking

The Sindh Assembly’s inaugural session for the swearing-in of the recently elected Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) has been scheduled for Saturday, February 24. Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori endorsed the recommendation of Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Maqbool Baqar to convene the session.

During this session, the newly elected representatives will take their oaths, marking the official commencement of their legislative duties. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) emerged victorious in the recent elections, securing an unprecedented 84 general seats in the Sindh Assembly.

With additionalreserved seats for women and minorities, the PPP’s total strength in the assembly is expected to exceed 100 for the first time.

Of the 130 general seats, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) secured 28, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supported independent candidates clinched 14 seats.

Additionally, the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) won two seats each, with three independent candidates also emerging victorious.
