KARACHI – The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday set aside appointment of Munawar Ali Shah as Inspector General of Prisons, Sindh.
The court passed the order on petition moved against appointment of Munawar Ali Shah as Inspector General of Prisons department.
During the hearing, the counsel for the petitioner told the court that the Sindh government gave additional charge to Munawwar Shah last year but his temporary charge was converted into a permanent appointment on November 1.
“There are senior officers in the department, and appointment of Munawar Shah on the top position is tantamount to violating their rights,” argued the counsel.
The post of IG Prison is for Grade-21 while Munawar Shah is a Grade-20 officer.
He asked the court to set aside the appointment of Munawar Shah as IG Prison Sindh.
After hearing arguments, the court allowed the petition and declared his appointment as null and void.
