ISLAMABAD – Minister of State Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that tough decisions would have to be made to save the country.
The minister said that Pakistan would once again embark on the path of progress.
“There will be improvement in the situation under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,” said Shaza Fatima Khawaja while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Friday. PML-N leader Rana Mashhood was also present there.
Shaza Fatima said that Nawaz Sharif also steered the country out of crises during the period from 2013 to 2017, and he demonstrated the highest growth rate in four years.
“We had to enter the IMF program as soon as we came to power in 2013, and we soon got rid of it,” she said.
The minister said that a coalition government was formed in 2022, and Shahbaz Sharif took the charge. The country was placed on the brink of default, she said, and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif strengthened the country in 16 months.
The Minister of State was of the view that as long as the youth are not given employment, the country cannot progress.
Shaza said, “We need to bring e-governance to the country. FBR needs to be digitized and tax base needs to be increased. We have to pay interest on the budget every year,”.
The Minister said that they have to move forward together and everyone has to play his/her role.
“Tough decisions will have to be made to save the state,” she said.
Rana Mashhood said that unfortunately, whoever worked in Pakistan became the target of propaganda.
He said that there was terrorism and load shedding in 2013, and Nawaz Sharif controlled terrorism and load shedding.
“A false narrative was made and the nation was led to protests. Nawaz Sharif was disqualified in 2017, and the government was formed by rigging the mandate in 2018,” said the PML-N leader.
He said that they had to secure IMF program.
“We will complete the IMF one and two programs and put the country back on the right track. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s entire team is working day and night,” he said.
Rana Mashhood said that no project had been given to the country since 2018, except one.
“The lies were told to the nation. Donald Lu just spoke yesterday. Yesterday’s hearing in Congress, the nation should come and ask for forgiveness. A letter was written to the IMF, and protests were held outside the IMF offices,” he added.
