Senior Minister of Sindh and Provincial Minister for Information, Excise, Taxation, Narcotics Control, Transport, and Mass Transit, SharjeelInamMemon, led a high-level meeting at the Directorate of Excise and Taxation in Karachi to discuss several key issues. During the meeting, discussions focused on launching the second auction of premium number plates and establishing a dedicated office for their issuance.
It was decided that the new premium plates would feature the initials of vehicle owners’ names, and proposals to increase fees for preferred plates were also considered.
Minister Memon instructed that all legal requirements for the premium number plates from the first auction be completed promptly to ensure citizen convenience. He emphasized that premium plates should only be issued to registered vehicles.
The meeting also addressed ongoing efforts against unregistered vehicles and the need for new check posts for the Excise Department. Memon directed the preparation of additional uniforms for Narcotics Control Wing personnel and discussed actions against government employees involved in drug trafficking with the Chief Secretary. Highlighting the urgency of effective drug control, Memon stressed that every effort must be made to combat drug dealers and protect the new generation. He called for stringent action and robust follow-up on cases involving drug peddlers to ensure they face justice.
