Sindh Food Authority (SFA) conducted a significant raid on a synthetic milk-producing factory in Karachi’s Bhens Colony area, leading to the seizure of toxic chemicals and the arrest of the factory staff. The raid followed complaints that the factory was producing counterfeit milk by mixing chemicals with water. This operation exposed a long-standing network that had been distributing adulterated milk across Karachi, falsely marketed as “fresh milk from Bhens Colony.”
Under the leadership of ADG MuzammilHaliopoto, the SFA team confiscated 750 kg of chemicals used to manufacture approximately 9,000 liters of synthetic milk. Additionally, 480 liters of the fake milk were seized and discarded.
All factory employees were taken into custody, and the SFA has pledged to take stringent action against those involved in the production and distribution of contaminated milk. ADG Haliopoto emphasized that those compromising public health will face severe consequences. The crackdown follows a similar incident in Lahore on July 9, where poisonous milk was seized and an individual, Salim Mayo, was arrested for selling fake milk.
