ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan’s constitutional bench on Tuesday turned down Sardar Latif Khosa’s request seeking transfer of the detainees of the military trial to the regular prisons.
A seven-member constitutional bench led by Justice Aminuddin Khan passed the order.
As the hearing commenced, the Additional Attorney General requested an adjournment, submitting that the Ministry of Defence’s counsel Khawaja Haris was unwell due to stomach issues and could not appear before the court.
During the proceedings, lawyer Latif Khosa requested the transfer of detainees to regular prisons, but the constitutional bench denied the plea.
Latif Khosa argued that at least meetings could take place in prisons to which Justice Aminuddin Khan remarked that the Attorney General had already assured arrangements for meetings.
The additional attorney general confirmed that the meetings were being facilitated.
Justice Aminuddin Khan advised focusing on the ongoing case and not diverting to other matters.
The court adjourned further hearing of the case until Thursday.
