In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, illegally detained senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the policy of repression in the territory continues unabated.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that a few days back journalist Sajad Dar was arrested for doing his duty of report-ing facts and charged him brutally for “criminal conspiracy”. Such harassment of scribes has become a routine in the valley, he added.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged the authorities to release journalist Sajad Gul and stop the policy of intimidation through arrests and detentions. He also expressed concern over the plight of those Gujjars and bakewals in Jammu who have been forcibly removed from their dwellings of 8 decades during a demolition drive.

He said, while outsiders are being given incen-tives to buy land and property in IIOJK to change its demographics, it is very unfortunate that the citizens of the territory are being displaced and rendered homeless in such an inhuman way.—KMS
