Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Convener of APHC-AJK chapter has said it is utterly shame on the part of Modi regime to take brutal measures in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to gag media and bring journalists into submission.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement in Islamabad said, barely some months after detaining human rights defender Khurum Parvez, forcibly disappearing another human rights advocate Muhammad Ahsan Untoo and arresting a journalist Sajad Gul, now the revengeful regime has detained yet one more media man, Fahad Shah of Kashmir Walla, “for his uncommitted subversive sins against Indian wolf-faced gods in Srinagar.”
He expressed profound concern over disappearance of M Ahsan untoo and arrest of another journalist in the last week warning that such dreadful activities by Indian police in Srinagar have sent shock waves among the media and human rights fraternity.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani strongly protested against the continued harassment of political activists, journalists and human rights activists saying that free press journalism and human rights movement and its great values are under terrible threat and suppression in IIOJ&K , but the families of the detained and forcibly disappeared face fearful odds under surveillance.
He appealed to the UN and other human rights and media organisations to raise their voices against India’s illegal and inhuman treatment of news men and human rights defenders and compel the Modi regime to repeal all post 5 August 2019 laws and police measures in Jammu and Kashmir including the one-sided and biased delimitation commission’s report.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, APHC-AJK leader in a statement in Islamabad also condemned the arrest of journalists and the registration of false cases against them. He said that India was committing grave human rights violations in the occupied territory.
He said that India would not get anything out of state terrorism but the spirit of freedom would further increase among the people of the territory. Sheikh Mateen said that Kashmiri youth were being martyred in mock clashes and appealed to the UN to take notices on the recent killings in fake encounters in IIOJK.—KMS
