Rehana chairs inclusive education standing committee

The second meeting of the Standing Committee on Inclusive Education was held at the office of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, chaired by Rehana J. Memon, the Provincial Ombudsman Advisor and Chairperson of the Standing Committee.

The meeting was attended by key representatives from various departments, including Shabana Kausar, DG Sindh Persons with Disabilities Prevention Authority (SPDPA); Muhammad Amir, Sindh Education and Literacy Department (SELD); Master Staff Trainer Angabeen Shaikh; and Chief Autism Consultant, C-ARTS, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Arum Rizwan, among others. During the meeting, discussions focused on reviewing the points raised in the previous session and developing a future action plan. Key topics included providing a list of schools ready for inclusive education, finalizing standards for inclusive education based on the committee’s feedback, and identifying Master Teachers for training programs under the Center for Autism, Rehabilitation, and Training Sindh (C-ARTS). The committee decided to include teachers from Karachi and Hyderabad in the first phase of the Master Teachers Training Program.

Furthermore, it was agreed that all private schools would receive approved meeting minutes from the provincial cabinet regarding inclusive education.
