Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta on Saturday made startling revelations about his role in election rigging, saying he instructed ROs in the Rawalpindi Division to change results during the February 8 polls.

Following Liaquat Chatha’s shocking claims, political activists, journalists and politicians made huge claims about the senior bureaucrat who is slated to retire next month.

Punjab Information Minister Amir Mir told a local media channel that Chatha was due to retire in mid-March 2024, and called him a psychopath for having suicidal thoughts.

Another journalist of local TV Hassan Ayub said Chatta was a confidante of General (retd) Faiz Hameed –the former director general of Inter-Services Intelligence ISI.

TV show host Gharidah Farooqi claimed that Rawalpindi commissioner was the cousin of Ahmed Chatta, who won the election on PTI ticket.

Furthermore, columnist Muzamal Suharwardy said Chatha was a property tycoon and owns half shares in Rawalpindi housing society Al Rehman Garden. He also linked Chatha with PTI leader Mian Aslam Iqbal, saying the latter helped the bureaucrat in different adventures.

The journalist mentioned a meeting between Liaquat Chatha and Mian Aslam.
