Rains predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday evening/night and Monday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating southeastern parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave prevails over Kashmir and adjoining areas.

Under these weather conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are predicted in the twin cities and at isolated places in northeast Punjab, South-eastern Sindh, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas on Sunday evening/night.

On Monday, more rain-wind/thunderstorms are predicted in the twin cities and at isolated places in northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 39-41°C on Monday and 38-40°C on Tuesday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Monday and 39-41°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeast/south Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed elsewhere in the country.

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 47°C. Maximum temperature in Bahawalpur and Dalbandin was recorded at 46°C, and Sibbi, Dadu, Bhakkar and Jacobabad at 43°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 67 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 61 per cent.
