ISLAMABAD – Overcast conditions and scattered rains on Thursday reduced the pollen concentration in Islamabad, though it is still high to pose a threat to the health of allergy patients.
As per the data released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the total pollen count decreased to 32,554 per cubic meter of air on Thursday as compared with 48,351 last day. Still, the level is very high and as such people suffering from pollen allergy are advised to take precautionary measures, accordingly.
The most abundant pollen types in Islamabad are Paper Mulberry, Acacia, Eucalyptus, Pines, Grasses, Cannabis, Dandelion and Alternaria. Out of all these species, Paper Mulberry shares the highest pollen count with 32,469. Last day, the concentration of Paper Mulberry was 48,251.
Pollen concentrations of other species are Cannabis 21 (moderate), Grasses 25 (high), Alternaria 28 (low), Pine 11 (low) and Acacia, Eucalyptus and Dandelion zero. The total pollen concentration is 32,554 which is very high.
Last day pollen concentration of Cannabis was 28 (moderate), Grasses 25 (high), Alternaria 25 (low), Pine 22 (moderate) and Acacia, Eucalyptus and Dandelion zero.
The prevailing wet spell is a good omen as allergy sufferers often find relief on rainy, cloudy, or windless days due to limited pollen movement. In contrast, hot, dry, and windy conditions lead to higher pollen concentrations, worsening allergy symptoms.
