The Punjab government has fulfilled its promise of austerity by recording a sharp drop in its spending.
According to a private TV channel’s report on Saturday, as many as Rs29 billion have been earmarked for the development expenditure of different provincial institutions from which the Punjab government succeeded in spending only Rs8 billion in the first five months of the fiscal year 2020-21. If the Punjab government continued to spend with the same ratio, it would be able to save 30 percent of the spending budget. The funds belonged to different provincial institutions including Governor’s House and the Chief Minister’s House.
