ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s oldest and largest public sector institution, University of the Punjab has implemented Degree Fee for first Time to deal with ongoing financial woes.

Under the latest measures, Punjab university made several changes and it is for the first time the university has removed this no-cost option to generate additional revenue for the institution.

Several other universities in the country are facing financial issues over the years. These problems stem from various factors such as limited government funding, to increased operational costs, issues about rising student enrollments without corresponding financial support.

Public universities in the Asian nation mostly rely on government funding, which can be inconsistent or insufficient in recent situation. Also, economic challenges can lead to budget cuts or delays in disbursements.

Some universities have responded by increasing tuition fees or seeking alternative funding sources, but these measures can sometimes create additional barriers for students.
