They work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the community, handling everything from routine patrols to high-stakes operations against dangerous criminals.CIA Lahore, a specialized branch of the police, focuses on investigating serious crimes. They use advanced techniques and intelligence to solve complex cases, bringing criminals to justice and maintaining peace in the city. Their expertise is vital in tackling organized crime and ensuring law and order. The NIU, or Narcotics Investigation Unit, is dedicated to fighting drug-related crimes. They conduct in-depth investigations and carry out operations to dismantle drug networks. Their efforts are crucial in preventing drugs from reaching the public, particularly the youth, and in creating a safer, healthier society. In a commendable effort to create a drug-free state, the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, ordered a special task force under the prime supervision of DIG Imran Kishwarto crack down on drug suppliers in Lahore. This decisive action reflects her firm commitment to protecting the youth from the devastating effects of drugs.
The task was not an easy one, targeting large-scale suppliers who had infiltrated high schools, colleges, and universities, poisoning the future of countless young individuals. The operation saw a massive collaborative effort from various branches of the Punjab Police, with the special task force supervisedby SSP Aftab Ahmad Phullerwan, SP Imran Kramat Bukhari, and DSP Mian Jaseem. These officers showed exceptional dedication and strategic acumen in executing the mission. Their relentless efforts and precise coordination completed the successful takedown of two notorious drug gangs, significantly disrupting the drug supply chain in the city. One of the most prominent gangs dismantled in this operation was led by (Shazia Faiz). She was an educated young woman who assumed control of the gang’s operations following the arrest of her uncles, who were the original masterminds behind the extensive drug supply network. Despite her educational background, Shazia’s involvement in such animmoral trade highlights the complex nature of the drug problem, where even educated individuals can be drawn into illegal activities. The Anti-Narcotics Force played a crucial role in this crackdown, capturing one of Shazia’s uncles while the Lahore Police arrested the other. With her uncles behind bars, she took over the reins, attempting to continue their illicit operations. However, the DSP, with his unwavering resolve, dedicated significant resources and efforts to tracking her down.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs, showcasing the magnitude of the operation. The authorities seized 56 kilograms of hashish, 30 kilograms of heroin, 14 kilograms of opium, and 4 kilograms of crystal meth (ice). These drugs, valued at millions of rupees, were intended for the youth of Lahore, who are particularly vulnerable to the temptation of narcotics. By capturing such a huge amount of drugs, the Punjab Police have undoubtedly saved countless lives from the danger of addiction and its associated consequences. The arrested individuals, namely Khalil Ur Rehman, Naveed Ahmad, Muhammad Abrar, Muhammad Javed, and Irfan, were key players in the drug distribution network. Their apprehension has dealt a severe blow to the operations of the drug mafia in Lahore.
The Chief Minister’s initiative and directive were crucial in catalyzing this operation. Her vision of a drug-free state is not just an aspiration but a clear and achievable goal, as evidenced by the recent successes of the Punjab Police. Her leadership has instilled a renewed sense of purpose within the police force, motivating them to tackle the drug danger with renewed strength and determination. The crackdown on these drug gangs is a significant step towards creating a safer and healthier environment for the youth of Lahore. Drugs not only destroy lives but also lead to increased crime rates and societal instability. By eliminating these major suppliers, the Punjab Police have taken a giant leap towards restoring safety and security in the region. This operation serves as a firm warning to other drug traffickers that the state will not tolerate such activities and will take all necessary measures to eradicate them. The success of this operation also emphasizes the importance of community support and cooperation in the fight against drugs.
Public awareness plays a crucial role in identifying and reporting suspicious activities. The citizens of Lahore, and indeed the entire province, are urged to support the police in their efforts to combat drug trafficking. Together, the community and law enforcement can create a united front against the drug threat. In a sitting session with Mr. Kashif Mirza and Hasnain Mirza (think tankers),I came to the conclusion that the recent crackdown on the drug mafia in Lahore is a testament to the dedication and efficiency of the Punjab Police and NIU. Their tireless efforts, supported by the decisive leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and IG Punjab Police (Dr. Usman Anwar), have struck a significant blow to the drug supply network, safeguarding the youth and future of Lahore. The successful seizure of a massive quantity of drugs and the arrest of key players in the drug trade are commendable achievements that highlight the Punjab Police’s commitment to a drug-free state. This operation serves as an inspiration and a reminder that with strong leadership, dedicated law enforcement, and community support, the fight against drugs can be won.
