LAHORE – The newly elected government in Punjab has imposed a temporary ban on appointments and transfers of government officials across the region.
The decision to restrict transfers and posting across the province is taken by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif – the first ever woman chief minister.
With new regulations enforced, only key transfers will be carried out after permission from CM House.
The service department has informed all relevant departments about the ban as the administration is undergoing changes.
The newly elected Chief Minister also reached out to the opposition, expressing her willingness to collaborate by keeping her office and heart open to them at all times.
In her inaugural address to the assembly, CM Maryam Nawaz expressed gratitude to Allah and congratulated the newly appointed speaker and deputy speaker. She emphasized the importance of upholding democratic values under their leadership.
Maryam lamented the absence of opposition members, stating her wish for their presence. She acknowledged the necessity of political competition in a democratic setup, noting her party’s perseverance through challenging times.
Asserting her role as a leader for all, regardless of political affiliation, Maryam reiterated her commitment to inclusivity by welcoming the opposition.
