LAHORE – The Punjab government decided to release the arrested leaders and workers of Jamaat-e-Islami, the sources close to the development said on Friday.
The sources said that the decision to release local leaders and workers of Jamaat-e-Islami was made on the recommendation of the federal government.
They said that the arrested leaders and workers of Jamaat-e-Islami would be released on Friday (today).
Jamaat-e-Islami had announced a sit-in in Islamabad starting from the 26th against inflation and taxes in electricity bills, after which workers and leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami were arrested across Punjab, and later negotiations led to the decision to release the workers.
Meanwhile, the sit-in by Jamaat-e-Islami continued at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi.
