ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has been released by Islamabad police.
Gohar Khan was arrested outside Parliament House on Monday night, along with several other party leaders in Islamabad rally.
Police in capital detained several lawmakers from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, led by the imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, at the parliament premises. This action followed a massive PTI rally on the outskirts of Islamabad the previous day, where the party demanded Khan’s release and challenged the results of the February 8 general elections, alleging electoral fraud by the country’s electoral authority.
Other PTI leaders are currently in detention. Opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan alleged that masked men with vehicles had entered the National Assembly to arrest PTI members, and that electricity was cut off in the building. He condemned the actions as unlawful and against parliamentary rules.
