Provincial Ministers Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Saeed Ghani have said that PTI was facing final defeat in Tuesday’s by-elections in two constituencies of Sindh, therefore they have resorted to terrorism in PS 88 constituency.

The two provincial ministers expressed these views at an emergency press conference at the camp office on Tuesday. The ministers said PTI workers tried to stop the polling process. “The Election Commission has the responsibility to register an FIR against Haleem Adil Sheikh after all the evidence against him has been filed on charges of interference in the government and terrorism.”

Information Minister Nasir Shah said all agencies, including the police, Rangers and local administration, are subordinate to the Election Commission on election day.  Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani said that Haleem Adil Sheikh, an out-of-school opposition leader, had gone to the polling stations of PS-88 with his 40 to 50 armed terrorists since Tuesday morning, and harassed the staff, voters and even the police.

He said that there are dozens of video clips of all of them, in which he is going with his armed men and harassing everyone. Ghani said that PPP kept in touch with the Election Commission in this regard but no hearing was held and at 1 pm the Election Commission issued a letter to expel Haleem Adil Sheikh from the constituency.

He said that against the rules and regulations of the Election Commission, many members of PTI National and Provincial Assemblies were seen walking around with their armed men to influence the by-elections in this constituency and this was not an allegation but there is also video evidence of this. He said that the Election Commission and the concerned DRO should register an FIR against Haleem Adil Sheikh for violating the rules and regulations and walking around the polling stations with armed men and it was their responsibility.

“Our regional leadership has also submitted a request to the concerned police station in this regard,” he said. Responding to a question, the ministers said that Haleem Adil Sheikh along with armed men raided Jokhio Goth and opened fire on unarmed voters and PPP workers with modern weapons, resulting in several people as well as the media.

One of the cameramen was reported injured. To another question, he said that Sindh government has fulfilled its responsibilities regarding by-elections and the Election Commission should take action on what happened on Tuesday.

To a question, he said that PPP would win by a landslide in PS 88 and PS 43 and this fear is being persecuted by PTI and opposition leaders and other MPAs.
