PPP’s Sardar Saleem Haider tapped as next Punjab Governor

LAHORE – Pakistan Peoples Party stalwart Sardar Saleem Haider Khan is likely to get Punjab governorship.

Reports in local media claimed that notification of Sardar Saleem’s appointment for constitutional role is likely to be issued on Friday night or on Saturday. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto picked him for the key position.

He will then replace Baleegh ur Rahman who came to the office in Mid 2022.

Sardar Saleem remained a member of the National Assembly from 2008 to 2013 and served as a minister in two cabinets. PPP leader also served as a Prime Minister’s aide on Overseas Pakistanis during the last government.

Faisal Karum Kundi for KP Governor

Pakistan Peoples Party leader Faisal Karim Kundi was picked for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governorship.

In 2002, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan contested the National Assembly seat from NA-24 (D.I.Khan) as a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate but was unsuccessful.

He however elected to the National Assembly from the same constituency in the 2008 election and later became the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly in March 2008. In 2013, he ran as an independent candidate but did not win.

In 2022, Faisal Karim Kundi was appointed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety. Kundi also holds the position of Information Secretary of the PPP.
