Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Monem Zafar Khan, stated that the water supply and sewage systems in Karachi are a direct consequence of the failure of the PPP-led Sindh government. He accused PPP of ruling over Sindh and Karachi for the past 16 years without addressing the city’s core issues.
Monem Zafar Khan remarked that despite the ruling mayor, Murtaza Wahab, also holding the position of Chairman of Water Corporation, the water and sewage crisis remains unresolved. He further pointed out that the PPP government is not interested in solving public problems but rather focused on retaining power and control over resources. Speaking at the inauguration of Abu Bakar Siddique Park and Open-Air Gym in UC 7 of Gulberg Town, Zafar Khan highlighted that, despite limited resources and powers, Jamaat-e-Islami had revived 125 parks across various towns, with 20 parks specifically in Gulberg Town. He emphasized that the party would continue its efforts for public service.
The event also featured speeches from Gulberg Central District Amir Kamran Saraj, Gulberg Town Chairman Nasratullah, and UC Chairman Zubair Wali. Residents of the area appreciated the efforts of Jamaat-e-Islami’s elected representatives and expressed gratitude for the restoration of parks and the provision of a healthy environment for children, youth, and families. Khan pointed out that Karachi, despite being the highest tax-generating city in the country, lacks access to basic necessities.
He criticized the completion delays in key development projects like the Karimabad Underpass and the K-IV water project. According to him, these delays reflect the inefficiency and mismanagement of the PPP government. Monem Zafar Khan also highlighted that Jamaat-e-Islami has introduced innovative concepts, such as roadside jungles and open-air gyms, and upgraded schools under its towns.
This initiative has led to increased enrollment in schools, while parks and playgrounds provide children and youth with healthy opportunities. He assured that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue to fight for the rights of Karachi’s citizens and resist PPP’s stranglehold on power. Kamran Saraj and Nasratullah reiterated their commitment to making Gulberg Town a model and exemplary area in Karachi. Nasratullah mentioned that the town has been beautified with flowers and trees, creating a pleasant environment for residents. Khan affirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami’s efforts for Karachi’s development will persist, and the party will continue to challenge PPP’s misgovernance in the city.
