Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, and Additional IG Javed Alam Odho met with parents who have refused polio vaccination for their children, urging them to support the nationwide initiative aimed at eradicating the virus. They emphasized that polio eradication is a national mission linked to children’s health and future, requiring cooperation from all citizens.

A seven-day polio immunization campaign will commence in Karachi from February 3, targeting 2.7 million children.

To ensure the campaign’s success, the Karachi administration has launched a direct engagement initiative to persuade hesitant parents, ensuring no child is left unvaccinated. At a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner East’s office, Commissioner Karachi and Additional IG urged parents to cooperate with the government and international health organizations in safeguarding children’s health. The meeting was attended by MPA Rana Shaukat Ali, Chairman Sohrab Goth Town, DIG East, Deputy Commissioner East Abrar Jafar, along with senior officials from the district administration, police, and the Emergency Operations Center.

Commissioner Karachi stressed that while polio has been eradicated worldwide except in Pakistan and Afghanistan, every possible effort must be made to make the country polio-free.

Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi appealed to parents to support this national cause by ensuring their children receive the vaccine. Commissioner Karachi directed the district administration and health officials to focus on vaccinating children whose parents refuse immunization and to achieve 100% coverage with the help of community leaders.

Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqv also thanked social leaders and community representatives for their ongoing support in the government’s polio eradication efforts.
