PMDC fixes Sept 22 as date for MDCAT in Pakistan & abroad

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to conduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) on September 22, 2024 (Sunday). In a recent meeting, the council decided to conduct the test for aspiring medical students whether in Pakistan or abroad on the same date.

According to the spokesperson of the PMDC, the council also decided that the syllabus of the MDCAT would be uploaded on the PMDC’s website by next week and the registration portal would also be open for the registrations.
In order to facilitate the students the council decided not to change the syllabus.

The MDCAT syllabus will remain unchanged and will be the same as last year, the spokesperson said.
The council directed all the provincial secretaries to start preparation for conducting the MDCAT exam and make necessary arrangements in this regard the spokesperson said adding the decision had been taken keeping in view the large number of the students.
Last year, almost 18,0534 students appeared in the exams. According to estimates this year 200,000 students are likely to sit in the exam. The MDCAT paper difficult index would also be taken into consideration for ease of students without compromising merit to ensure that all provinces conducted exams without any trouble to students.

President PMDC Prof Dr Rizwan Taj in a press statement said that MDCAT-2024 would be a paper-based exam, held single day through provincial public admitting universities supervised by PMDC. He emphasized that exploring students’ potential and ensuring their bright future and better prospects were the council’s top priority and the PMDC was working tirelessly to facilitate them.
He has directed all the universities to conduct the MDCAT exams and keep strict adherence to guidelines and regulations to ensure fairness and transparency in the admission process.
He added that the council understood the importance of the MDCAT exam for students seeking admission to medical and dental colleges. Therefore the PMDC will ensure that all necessary arrangements shall be done in time.
Further details regarding the MDCAT exam, including the schedule, registration process, and other information, will be communicated by the PMDC in the coming days.

He added that aspiring medical students are advised to stay updated and prepared for the upcoming exam and keep visiting the PMDC website.
